(AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Martin Dempsey has a message for Americans: The nation is "vulnerable" to a large-scale cyberattack from adversaries around the globe.

"We are vulnerable. Make no mistake about it," Gen. Dempsey said, The Wall Street Journal reported.

"I've found that it's not helpful when the Chairman uses word's like 'crisis' or 'meat ax,' or these really powerful adjectives. ... My job by the way, through the cyberassets that I control, is to defend and protect my network, the military network," the general told WSJ. "The problem is that my network depends on your network. Ninety percent what we do is shared across the Internet with commercial. We're really vulnerable. ... We're not the only smart guys on the planet."
